Welcome to the Creating Peaceful Schools Website!

Creating Peaceful Schools is a program of the Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center, whose purpose is to work for a culture of peace through education, advocacy, and community building.

The Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center was established in 1969 as a focal point in the East Bay where the community could gather to create a "local voice for peace" to speak out against the wars in Indochina.  Over a period of 40+ years it has evolved into a Center that also addresses issues related to the prevention of violence and promotion of social justice in the local community.  To that end the Center has most recently been focusing on education and positively influencing the hearts and minds of our youth.

Educational programs addressing peace and justice have been developed for children of all ages, kindergarten through high-school.  They include the Art & Writing Challenge, Creating a Peaceful School and Youth and the Military.  Please take a tour of this website for more information on these specific programs.

For more information on the Mt. Diablo Peace & Justice Center, see our website at
www.mtdpc.org.   For information on events which have already taken place this year, including the Creating Peaceful Schools Conference 2013 and the Art & Writing Challenge 2013, please go to "Past Events" on this website.

We'd love to hear from you!
